“A
flower that wilt too fast…a cherry blossoms.”
Maybe
that is the best thing in my mind that I can think to describe Chairil Anwar in
my mind. Like Cherry blossoms, a beautiful flower in Japan…really similar, even
to the point of the beauty. Cherry blossoms are beautiful, no one will deny
that…but it blooms only for a short period of time, just three months at
maximum. But it decorates the spring,
make people happy…attached to its beauty…even thought it wilt. People will
always remember the cherry blossoms that decorate their days at the spring…no
matter how short it blooms.
Chairil
Anwar is the same. He died at a young age, at 28 years old. A short period of
life but no one in Indonesia can forgot his name. He is eternal…. His poems
decorates Indonesian’s heart and soul…make people feel the beauty and spirit
that he present in his poems. Even though he died, Chairil Anwar will always be
remembered by Indonesian…through the beauty of his poems.
One
of his poem, entitled Doa present the beauty perfectly. In that poem the
religion feeling that he put into the poem is so strong that even in just one
glance to the poem we can feel it. We can feel that Chairil try to deliver his
message that no matter what problems, what despair and hopelessness that come
to us, it would be fine as long as we want to pray to God, because only in the
God’s hands, there is an answer to all the problems that the humans have. This
poem gives hope to keep believe in God, even though all the problems push out
to the edge of the despair.
To
appreciate poem further, I will give the video that held the appreciation of
the poem according to me and my group’s friends, I hope with see that video, we
will know…how beautiful the poem…and how beautiful…the words behind Chairil
Anwar’s poem that he presents to the world.
