Where was
he? Why he couldn’t see anything? What happened here?
Woohyun
looked around warily when he realized that he was in a strange, dark place now.
The place where he was stood now was so dark, to the point that he couldn’t see
anything at all. He didn’t know why, but this darkness made him uneasy, made
him…scared.
Suddenly
Woohyun saw a light in front of him. Without another thought, the handsome
black haired man ran towards the light, felt satisfied and relieved that at
least there was a place where he could see a light. He didn’t need a long time
to arrive at the light that he saw and when he arrived there, Woohyun
immediately froze.
He saw a
girl, a cute girl to be exact. The cute girl has tiny eyes, chubby cheeks, dark
brown hair that flowed down her shoulder, and white fair skin that made her
looked so beautiful and perfect. For Woohyun, he really felt that he saw angel
in front of him. The girl sat at the white snowy ground, stared to something
unknown in front of her.
“Seo…kyung-noona…”
Woohyun muttered softly when he walked towards his lover. Yes, he was not
dreaming…right? This is surely not an illusion…right? Seokyung was there, in
front of him. She was smiling like usual and…alive.
But Seokyung
acted like she didn’t see or even felt Woohyun that stood behind her. That cute
girl still looked ahead with blank stares, didn’t respond to any of Woohyun’s
calls at all. It looked like that Woohyun didn’t even exist for Seokyung.
“Kyu-noona…”
Woohyun tried to call the brown haired girl again. The black haired man
immediately knelt down to hold Seokyung’s hand, and when he held it…he held it
tightly. The warmth and the softness of that hand…really…Woohyun missed
everything that that hand always gave to him.
“Woohyunnie…”
Seokyung muttered softly. The black haired man immediately shot his head up
when he heard the girl called his name. “You are cruel…. You make me like
this….”
For the
first time, Woohyun finally could see what Seokyung saw in front of her, and
what he saw there immediately made him froze in fear.
A
tombstone…with Seokyung’s name engraved there with the crimson color as bright
as blood….
“You ignore
me…do not care about me at all…. Your stares to me also…become cold. And
you…start to disappear from my side every so often…” Seokyung kept whispering,
still didn’t acknowledge Woohyun that knelt down exactly behind him and held
her hand tighter when he heard the brown haired girl’s words. “And now I
understand…that you don’t love me anymore, Hyunnie…. Or maybe…you never love me
at all since the start…."
For Woohyun the words that Seokyun whispered
was the most hurtful words that he ever heard. No…he loved Seokyung! He loved
the brown haired girl that now sat still in front of him so much! So much…until
it become so hurt for him to lose her like this and heard her doubted the love
that he always had for her all this time.
“No…noona…I
love you! I really love you!” Woohyun yelled desperately to the brown haired
girl. He didn’t want this! He didn’t want Seokyung to doubt his love for her!
For him Seokyung was everything! The most important person in his life!
Tears
started to fall from Seokyung’s eyes. “I know that my existence to you is not
as important as yours to me, Hyunnie…” she kept muttering softly while he stood
up slowly, made the hand that Woohyun held slid out from the handsome man’s
hold. Woohyun looked at Seokyung while the brown haired girl smiled sadly at
her tombstone.
“That’s
why…you easily let go of me…. No matter how much I love you all this time….”
And
suddenly…the grim reaper raised up his scythe to Seokyung, made the once white
ground in front of Woohyun became red.
Red…with
Seokyung’s blood.
“KYU-NOONA!”
Woohyun screamed while he shot up from his bed. He was panting heavily, like he
had just ran far far away quickly. Cold sweat covered his face and body while
his face was as pale as a ghost. The black haired man’s hand shook slightly
while he brought it to cover his eyes for a moment before it laid limply beside
his body. Tears started to gather at his eyes before he finally broke down into
sobs.
Again…that
dream again…. Why he always dreamed about that? Why…why he must always had that
nightmare every night?
Yes…the
nightmare that kept haunts him…since Seokyung’s death three years ago.
Woohyun
knew that he couldn’t forget the brown haired girl forever. He loved Seokyung
so much…made it impossible for him to go on with his life after the girl’s
death. He never loved anyone as much as Seokyung. He couldn’t forget the brown
haired girl’s smiles, her cute pouts, her cute clingy acts, her warmth, her
nags…he couldn’t forget all of those…no matter how much he tried to do it.
Even
until now…he still couldn’t forget the guilt and sadness in his heart when he
received the news about Seokyung’s death from Myungsoo, Seokyung’s younger
brother.
Woohyun
smiled when he shook hands with all the managers of the company that praised
his first performance as leader of the meeting. He collected all his papers
before walked towards his own office’s room, still with a smile at his lips.
He
succeeded!
Now, he
could tell Seokyung that he finally succeeded to make his company proud of him.
Now…he could tell the brown haired girl that she could be proud of him too. And
now…Woohyun could feel that he was worthy to be Seokyung’s lover.
Not long
after the black haired man’s arrival at his office’s room, his cellphone rang.
Woohyun put all his papers at his table and picked his phone. He frowned when
he saw the name ‘Myungsoo’ at his phone’s screen as his caller ID.
Weird, it
was unusual for Myungsoo to call him, especially at the working hours like
this…. After all, Myungsoo was a CEO at his company, made him busier than Woohyun.
So…why?
“What’s
wrong, Myungsoo?” asked Woohyun nonchalantly after he pressed the ‘answer’
button. “I am busy! It’s still my working time!”
“It’s an
emergency situation!” Myungsoo yelled from the other line in a voice filled
with…desperation and sadness. “This is about Seo-noona!”
“What’s
happen to her?” Woohyun asked with his I-don’t-care tone but again, he suddenly
felt uneasy and afraid. He felt that something happened to his older lover.
“Seo-noona…”
Myungsoo become silent for a moment. “He got involved in a car accident! A car
hit her while she crossed the street! Now she is in the hospital and in
critical condition!” said the usually stoic man frantically.
Woohyun’s
face became pale almost immediately after he heard what his lover’s brother
said to him. His hand suddenly became weak, made the phone at his hand slipped
out and crashed down to his office’s marble floor.
Woohyun
sighed tiredly before walked out of his bedroom towards the kitchen. He opened
his refrigerator and drank a bottle of water that he found there until it
became empty. He looked at the terrace beside his dining room that was being
separated by a thin white curtain that was blowing gently by the wind. Woohyun
walked towards the terrace and saw the beautiful garden that Seokyung always
like to take care of in front of him with blank stares. He closed his eyes for
a moment, felt the wind caressed his face and hairs. Without any strength and
will to stop it, his mind immediately remembered all his memories with
Seokyung, the beautiful, happy times when he was still laughing and happy with
the brown haired girl….
Seokyung was
busy planting flowers at the little flower garden that Woohyun gave her. She
likes flowers, since she was a child. Well…maybe it was the effect for being
born in a family that run down a flower shop. She lived with flowers all her
life, made she always thought that flowers were her friends that always willing
to share everything with her and never left her no matter what happen.
But…she had
Woohyun for that now, right?
Suddenly,
Seokyung felt a pair of arms circled her waist. The cute brown haired girl
looked up and saw Woohyun that smiled lovingly to her. She also smiled before
stood up and washed her soil-covered hands with a hose beside her. After
finished, she turned around and caressed Woohyun’s face lovingly before planted
a kiss at Woohyun’s cheeks.
“Good
morning…or maybe afternoon, Hyunnie~” said Seokyung while giggled softly.
Woohyun smiled widely before kissed Seokyung’s hair.
“Morning
too, noona~ what are you planting now?” Woohyun asked when he saw the area
where Seokyung just planted the flower seeds behind them.
“Your
favorite flowers~lilies!” said Seokyung cheerfully. “Mom and dad give me new
variations of lilies from the shop, so I plant it now! They will bloom
beautifully at the spring time, hopefully you will like it!”
Woohyun
hummed lightly when he heard Seokyung’s explanation.
“You know,
Hyunnie…you never tell me why you love lilies so much,” Seokyung muttered
softly. “Why do you love lilies?”
Before
Woohyun could answer Seokyung’s question, his stomach grumbled loudly, made
Woohyun’s face turned slightly pink and Seokyung burst out laughing
immediately.
“Well…I
think it is time for lunch too, I will make a brunch for you then,” said
Seokyung while he walked to the kitchen, left Woohyun alone to see the flowers
garden in front of him.
“Lily…is
sweet, pure, delicate and beautiful…” Woohyun muttered softly. “Really suit
you, noona. That’s why I love lilies…because they remind me of you….”
Woohyun felt tears started to fall down from
his eyes once more, no matter how hard he tried to held it in. He felt hurt…he
felt regret towards Seokyung. He remembered the last time he was with her, he
had made her cried, the last time he was with her, they fought. Woohyun
knew…the reason behind Seokyung’s death was suicide, because their fight.
Seokyung was not a careless person, so it was impossible for her to cross the
stree when she knew the light was still red except it was intentional. Woohyun
knew…that Seokyung was dead because of him, because of his ignorance towards the
older girl and his harsh words to her when they fought the last time.
“I’m
sorry, Kyu…” Woohyun whispered. “I’m sorry….”
At
night, Woohyun sat at the windowsill of his bedroom. He enjoyed the night, with
so many stars that painted the dark sky of the night…even though now he saw
that beautiful scenery with empty feelings.
Sometimes…no,
maybe everytime, Woohyun wondered if that fight never happened, if he just let
himself spent more time with Seokyung rather than too focused at his job and
made her sad, if he didn’t ignore Seokyung…would she dead? Would that cute girl
still sit beside her rather than buried at the bottom of the earth? Maybe…if
that stupid, ridiculous fight was never happened, Seokyung would still be
alive. She would still be here at Woohyun’s side, and they would still be happy
together.
Suddenly,
Woohyun saw a falling star from his window. Woohyun remembered Seokyung’s words
when they saw one before.
‘People say
if you make a wish sincerely when you see a falling star, that wish will become
true….’
“If
there is one wish I want to be true…” Woohyun whispered softly towards the
night sky. “I just want a second chance…to fix everything. I want to make
Seokyung-noona smile…and made sure…that she know that I love her…more than
anything else in this world….”
