The Twisted Side of The Mirror

(This is my conversation with the tree at Monday March 11 2013. Since my conversation turns kinda heavy and depressing (I am really sorry sir, but really, I cannot make any conversation that is not depressing, I kinda too wrapped up in another fiction story that I write at that time) I make it into a fiction story using my favorite character from a comic book. Alice (the one with the white hair and dress) is me and Alyss (the one with the black hair and dress) is the tree that I talked to at Monday)

Hope all of you who read this will enjoy it ^^

--
Alice laid at her room with a blank stares, a stares that said she didn’t want nor wish to live. Her long white hair spilled over the black marbles floor, gave an ethereal feeling to anyone who see it.  With the long white dress, a dress that covered by the purity of the angel’s wings, she looks so beautiful…so untouchable…so unattainable….

At the first glance, she looks so much like an angel…

Alice rolled until she was laid at her back, looked blankly at her ceiling. She raised her hand, like wanted to reach the sky that was above her with her hand.

“You look so mighty there, stand up proudly on your own” Alice muttered to herself to the sky above her. “Do you ever feel lonely at all?”

“What is being lonely means to you ? What is loneliness means?” a voice suddenly heard at the eerie silence that hung around the room. “Do you have something that bothers you?”

Alice slowly sat up and looked at the mirror in front of her. There, a girl that looks so much like herself sat at the same position with her. Her long black hair swayed softly because of the wind, while a smile, a sadistic, cruel smile painted over her pretty face.

Black and white….

Evil and Good …

Demon and Angel ….

Cruelty and Kindness….

Alice and Alyss….

Yes, that black haired girl was one side of herself, Alice thought while she crawled slowly to the mirror. Her white hand rose slowly until she touched the cold surface of the mirror, looked at Alyss who did the same thing, still with the cruel, sinister smile at her face.

“Loneliness is such a peaceful feeling,” Alice whispered. “Because when you forget someone you love, you will be happy…free from any discomfort and uneasiness that you felt when you still with him…even when you know you can’t have him with you.”

Alyss laughed when she heard Alice’s sentences.

“Forget the one you love? Can you ever do that? Is it easy for you to do that?” she said with a tone as childish as a naïve, innocent child, but still….

You can feel the poison of demon in the words of the black haired girl….

“What are you said? Of course it will be easy. You just have to meet new people, get close to them, being used with their presence, and anything else and you will forget everyone in your past. They will be just a mere history that is erased by the present.”

“Maybe,” Alyss whispered while she tilted her head slightly, exposed her pale neck. “But forget someone important, someone that you really love with all your heart, can you really do it? Maybe you can forget his physical appearances through time. You will forget his smiles, his face, his touch, his laugh, and all his conversations with you, but will you forget all the sweet memories that he share with you all this time? Will you forget all the tenderness his hands gave to you? Will you forget the happiness your heart felt when he was near? Will you forget all the warmth feeling that you have when he held you?”

Suddenly, like a magic, the mirror between them disappear, made Alice hand just touch an empty air before it laid limply at her side. Her room disappears, with only darkness that covered everything around them. Alyss walked in front of Alice and knelt down in front of the white haired girl. She raised her hand and patted the white haired girl’s head. “You will not, Alice. You can’t forget them. If you forget all of that it means that you will forget your past. You can’t do that because you need your past…you need it in order to keep living.”

Alice just kept silent…there are no words at all that flew out from her mouth to the black haired girl that now chuckled when she saw the white haired girl’s (according to her) pathetic self.

“…Why I need my past in order to keep living?” Alice whispered softly after being silent for a long time. “There are so many people who get amnesia in this world, they don’t remember their past, but the can live, happily even? Why I can’t do the same with myself?”

“But do they choose to forget their past? No, they are not, dear Alice. They do not know about that and in turn doesn’t even know that there is something missing from their lives, their past.” Alyss said with a childish smile at her lips.

“So? What’s wrong with that?” Alice asked while she clutched her white dress tightly until her knuckles turn black. “At least it proves that you don’t need your memories in order to live.”

Alyss whistled loudly before stood up in front of Alice and laughed in a tone so filled with cruelty and evilness, that any people who hear it will cover themselves in fear. The one who see the black haired girl will agree that when Alice looks like an angel…Alyss looks so much like a demon. “They don’t need it, Alice. They never need their past. But you, you know how important your past, Alice. Your memories are the one what makes you are now. Forget them and you will deny yourself, Alice; deny what you are now.”

Alice’s eyes widened in horror and surprise when she heard Alyss’ words. She raised her head up, looked at Alice’s dark brown eyes that looked at her with the coldness that even colder than the coldest ice in Atlantic.

The coldness of the voice of the cruelest demon in hell….

“Your existence is everything for you, Alice,” Alyss said. “If that existence is gone then what do you have in this life? What is the one that make you you? There is nothing, Alice, you will be no one, nobody.”

Alice’s body shook slightly. “Stop it…” she said weakly while she raised her hands and covered her ears with it, closed her eyes shut so she won’t see Alyss’ cruel smirk. “Don’t say it…Stop it!” she screamed.

“You are pathetic, Alice, admit that. You are weak, and always will be.” Alyss bent her body slightly and kissed Alice’s forehead softly. “You are no one Alice. You are nobody.”

And slowly Alyss’ body blended into the darkness around her and slowly disappeared, left Alice that sat shivering in her room with eyes closed and hands covers her ears, in the black marble floor, with Alyss’ laughter still echoed in the distance.
